2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember FREE telephone number that connects you to important community services and volunteer opportunities.

2-1-1 service is spearheaded and partially funded by United Ways of Arkansas and a combination of federal grants, private and corporate donations.

Services offered include:

• Basic needs

• Physical and mental health resources

• Employment support

• Support for older Arkansans and the disabled

• Support for the children, youth and families

• Volunteer opportunities and donations

Why We Need 2-1-1

w 2-1-1 provides critical information to callers 24 hours a day, and helps identify where services are needed throughout the state.

w 2-1-1 eliminates confusing and frustrating searches by providing streamlined access to existing services

w 2-1-1 makes help more readily available to people who are illiterate, incapacitated by crisis (such as a natural disaster), non-English speakers, the elderly, the disabled, and travelers who don't know where to turn

w 2-1-1 call centers work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and help deliver services more efficiently by pinpointing what kind of services are needed and where

w 2-1-1 reduces the number of non-emergency calls made to      9-1-1

w TYY and multi-lingual accessibility to those in need is provided

2-1-1 will be the direct link between people who need help and people who can give help.  Local organizations will benefit from being included in the 2-1-1 database because they will reach more consumers and receive more appropriate referrals.  Local governments will be better able to access where help is needed within our communities based on the data collected from 2-1-1.  Those wishing to donate their time and/or money will now have a quick, easy-to-remember number to call to begin volunteering immediately.  There are no losers with 2-1-1.
